2013 Giveaway!

This 2012/2013 winter here in Eastern Tennessee has been cold but not the traditional winter fest as expected.  We had one day with astounded snow last week in the Great Smoky Mountains. It was beautiful to see the snow covered trees.  Unexpectedly the snow turned to rain here in the Appalachia.  The rivers were flooding.  We are anxious to get out on the Big Pigeon River to see the changes Mother Nature had made by shifting rocks, trees and water flow.    Once we were able to get out on the water; we were all captivated with enthusism and rip-roaring laughter. The intoxication from the mind blowing rapids sent us for a thrill. Now we are all ready to have you come out and join soon on one of our next electrifying Whitewater adventures!

Great Smoky Mountain Rafting 2012

In the Great Smoky Mountains in Eastern Tennessee fall is coming to an end and the beauty of winter wonderland is fast approaching.  No better of a day than today to take a look back at the wild and wonderful adventures of this past year.  In the early spring whether we were walking, hiking, biking, driving, zipping through the trees or mountain climbing in the Smoky mountains; you remember thinking “Oh, how the green is trickling out from the Maple Trees.  I know warm weather is just around the corner.”  The  anticipation building as we watched Spring slowly come upon us.  Taking early float trips down the BigPigeon River because we couldn’t stay away from the rush of the water too much longer.

The  weekend we all began to look forward to; Memorial day which began the summer at Outdoor Adventures. Once that weekend was here we were all ready to get wild on the water.  To see all the beautiful flowers, the big green filled grass and trees but most of  all to get out on the  white water. The enthusiasm of our staff kept you, your family, and your friends relaxed even at the most hectic of times.  Our experienced guides kept you well informed of safety procedures, fun historical facts and most of all making sure you were enjoying your trip down the Big Pigeon River; whether it be the Upper or the Lower portion.  The summer  had us all filled with laughter.  The warmth from the sun and the refreshing feel of the water splashing you during double reactionary or any of our other exciting class three or four rapids.  Looking over to your family member or friend that just got soaked by a huge wave, while you remained slightly dry; the look on their face was priceless.  Enjoying the beauty of the sun shining through the trees and onto the water.  The trip coming to an end just to feel as though you are reliving the adrenaline as you are looking at the photos from your most exciting trip.

Fall came too fast this year.  Labor day weekend was here before we knew it and you and your family were ready to see the new side of  beauty the Smoky mountains had to offer. Many people travel to the Smokies each year to see the amazing borage of colorful foliage from September to November. The crisp cool wind flowing, chilling the water more than the summer.  Taking a float trip down the river, really giving yourself the opportunity to reflect on the wonders of the mountains

Winter is now upon us.  We are ready to cozy up to a fire or enjoy a meal with our family and friends to tell stories of the fun filled times with Outdoor Adventures, Inc. and how their highly trained guide helped you navigate your way through the gorge and provided you with great cultural and historical facts about this unique region of Appalachia.

Don’t forget to tell your family and friends that they too can enjoy the fun filled excitement with you as well. Whether your staying in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Sevierville, Knoxville, or Ashville we're only a short drive away.  If you book before the end of the year we offer an even bigger discount than the $10.00 off special for returning guests.  Book early, book now and start the anticipation as we did for this past spring, summer and fall in the smoky mountains for 2013.

Group Rafting

Motorcycle Police Officers from Around the Country

Organizing groups of people can be a daunting task to say the least.  It becomes especially difficult when there are a wide range of ages within a group.  Rafting is the one activity everyone in your group can participate in and have a great time!  Whether you have a family gathering, church group, school group, or corporate group looking for team building exercises, Outdoor Adventures is the perfect place to come, relax, and be assured everyone will have a fun and unforgettable experience!
For groups with small children, grandparents, and those just not ready for the high adventure whitewater, we offer a Lower Section float trip.  Anyone 3 years old and up can enjoy this scenic trip through the lower, much more tame, section of the Pigeon River Gorge.   You may also split your group so that some go on the Lower Section and those 8 years old and up looking for adventure go on the Upper Section of the Pigeon River.  Trips on the Upper and Lower Sections leave from the Outpost at the same time for your convenience.
Outdoor Adventures also offers great group discounts so you won’t have to blow your budget!  We will apply a $10.00 OFF discount to groups of 15 or more in addition to other group discounts being offered at the time of booking.  And, for all that you have done to make sure everyone has a good time, Outdoor Adventures will take the group coordinator for FREE!
Give us a call and reserve your group's trip today!
866-333-RAFT (7238)
We can’t wait to see you on the river!

Pigeon River in the Fall

Fall is one of the most beautiful times in the Smoky Mountains.  Many people travel to the Smokies each year to see the amazing borage of colorful foliage from September to November.  The diversity of trees in the park and surrounding areas makes Fall in the Smokies a spectacular event.  With over 100 species of native trees such as sugar maples, sweetgum, red maple, scarlet oak, and hickory, Fall in the Smokies is a must see!  One of the best ways to experience this is by taking a float trip through the scenic Pigeon River Gorge.  Outdoor Adventures, Inc. offers float trips through the end of November and is the ONLY rafting company on the river to offer full wetsuits for the chillier days.  During this time of year, water levels vary.  Some trips may have lower water with class II and III rapids and other trips may have big water with class III and IV rapids.  No matter what the water level may be, come expecting to have and good time and beautiful ride!  Also, enjoy making lasting memories with our highly trained guides as they help you navigate your way through the gorge and provide you with some great cultural and historical facts about this unique region of Appalachia.

Mouse Creek Falls

Make a day of it!  After your float trip, grab some lunch at the Bean Trees CafĂ© and take a scenic hike in the Big Creek section of the national park, located just 15 minutes from our outpost in Hartford, TN.  There are some great scenic spots along this trail including Mouse Creek Falls and Midnight Hole.  Spending the day in and around Hartford is a great way to escape the crowds in downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.  Book your trip with us now!
